Debit or Credit?

The answer is....... CREDIT!  No matter which option you choose at the checkout, the funds are deducted from your checking account... but CREDIT offers so much more!

  1. Credit is Fee-Free
    Ever thought you’d be charged for using your debit card as a debit card?  Well, it’s happening!  A monetary penalty for using your card as a debit transaction is actually becoming common at other financial institutions.  The reality is that debit transactions cost money to process.  ACMG does not currently charge for using your card as debit, but by saving ACMG an expense and choosing CREDIT, we can return those savings to you!  ACMG is determined to keep our fees low or non-existent, so remember to process your transactions as CREDIT and you’ll also avoid any potential fees!  In some cases, store checkouts may automatically ask for a PIN, signaling a debit transaction. Most of the time you can press the cancel button and then choose CREDIT.  If that is not an option, simply ask the cashier to process the transaction as CREDIT    .
  2. Credit is Secure
    Another reason to choose CREDIT over debit is that it’s a more secure transaction. A signature-based transaction is more secure than using your PIN because there is a security feature encoded into your card’s magnetic stripe. This code is invisible to the cardholder but has to match exactly what is in our system, or else the transaction will not be processed. It basically means your card can not be duplicated and used fraudulently.
  3. Credit earns REWARDS!
    Each time you choose the CREDIT option and sign for your purchases... you earn REWARD POINTS! Points can be redeemed for merchandise and travel rewards at www.uchooserewards.com . Every member with an ACMG VISA Debit Card is automatically enrolled to earn reward points, simply visit the U Choose Rewards web site at www.uchooserewards.com and register to view your points and all the available choices.

    How it works...

    • Members who process their debit card transactions as credit (signature-based) will earn one point for each $2 spent.
    • Points can be redeemed online for thousands of exciting choices including merchandise and travel.
    • Points are good for 4 years.
