Once again, politicians are considering an overhaul of the federal tax code. Big banks and some politicians are talking about taxing credit unions like us, despite the fact that we are not-for-profit. Taxing credit unions could destroy credit unions as they are today and eliminate financial choices for consumers.  For every $1 in new taxes on credit unions, the government would wipe out $10 in benefits to our members - so not only is this a bad idea for our economy, but will be a further tax on you, our members. Since credit unions hold only 6% of all financial assets nationwide, taxing credit unions won't even scratch our budget deficit. CUNA (Credit Union National Association) has created a very easy to use pre-written email (or you can opt to write your own) that will be sent to our politicians letting them know what we have to say on this subject.
