Solvay High School

Solvay High School's student-run credit union branch, The Vault, is located in the cafeteria and open Wednesdays and Fridays during all three lunch periods.  The Vault opens on October 4th, 2017 and be open each week until Regents testing begins in June of 2018.

The Vault is a fully operating branch of the credit union where students and staff can: make deposits, withdraw cash (up to $100 a day), purchase discount movie tickets, make transfers between ACMG accounts, and deposit or cash their paycheck. ACMG staff train and assist our student tellers in providing safe and professional service to credit union members in the school. Our volunteer tellers gain valuable job skills, and we are available to help students in making positive decisions as they gain money skills.

Since the credit union offers nationwide shared branch access to accounts at no cost, your student can successfully transition from high school to college with ease. Many times opening a checking account is done just before a student begins college, when parents are not available to help with decisions and understanding budgeting. We believe it should be the parent's decision of when a student is ready to learn, so youth checking is available at any age with an adult on the account to help coach their choices.

How The Vault Was Started:

In 2015, students from the DECA Club assisted our ACMG staff in the planning and branch opening, while students from the Marketing Classes named the branch, developed our logo, and created our slogan "Safe. Secure. Reliable.".

Our amazing volunteer tellers are the face of our student branch. These students have learned job skills, shared their money management knowledge, and continue to build their customer service skills by performing transactions for fellow students and school staff.

A huge thank you to the school district, the principal, the teachers, and these outstanding students who have made it possible for ACMG to fulfill our mission of providing free financial education, and to help prepare these students for a stable financial future.
